The State of Oregon, the Oregon Home Care Commission (OHCC), the Department of Human Services (DHS), and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and organizations within the DHS/OHA service delivery systems do not guarantee or warrant that HCWs/PSWs have the experience or skills listed in this registry. The registry is intended to provide employers with a list of HCWs/PSWs who meet certain basic qualifications established by the OHCC. The fact that a HCW/PSW satisfies the basic qualification requirements does not mean that the HCW/PSW has the skills or experience to provide a certain service to a particular employer.
As a part of the referral process, HCWs and PSWs are asked to describe their experience and skills. The descriptions of each HCW's/PSW’s skills and experience come from the HCW/PSW him or herself, not from the OHCC. The OHCC cannot confirm or verify the experience or skills of the HCWs/PSWs listed on the registry. It is very important that each employer (or employer‘s representative) carefully interview, screen, and check the references of the HCWs and PSWs in the registry, before selecting the HCW/PSW who can best meet the employer’s service needs according to Oregon Administrative Rules and program guidelines established by DHS/OHA.
For employers who receive services through Medicaid or OPI, the employer’s case manager must approve the final authorization of services.
